ANNOUNCEMENT, 30TH MAY 2011: THE WEBSITE IS UNDERGOING A MUCH NEEDED REVAMP AND WILL RELAUNCH AFRESH IN AUGUST 2011.

Hello and welcome to Whitemoss AAC Online, the website for Whitemoss Amateur Athletics Club. It is with great pleasure that I am able to relaunch the site after a period of absence from the worldwide web. The longer standing members among you will remember previous incarnations of Whitemoss’ representation online. Our first website was created by myself and existed between December 1999 and September 2001. Subsequent versions were run by former athlete Graeme Smith and former chairman Stuart McCord. Alas, at the AGM on Tuesday 3rd October 2006, I was persuaded to take on the Internet duties once more,  being around the club a little bit more than I had been previously.

I write this in October 2010 after a few months of inactivity on the website. I have revamped some features and done away with some redundant ones. You may notice the Coaches and Committee pages have been removed. There is a reason for this. There are so few people filling these posts, the prospect of constantly typing the word "vacant" was a little depressing. On the track, Whitemoss is in a decent state of health. Athletes are performing well. 2010 has seen one of our athletes go to the International Childrens Games. We have recruited some new athletes, including a former American footballer with infectious enthusiasm. We are financially okay. Off the track however, for coaches and committee, we are floundering. People have had to depart with work and other commitments. We have operated for the best part of over a year without a permanent chairman.

I urge you to look out for notice of the next AGM on this website and elsewhere. The club needs a chairman, treasurer and secretary as a bare minimum to operate effectively. Anyone interested in helping at training will receive maximum support and have coaching courses if desired paid for by the club. Please consider how you can help your child's club.

I make no apologies for using this website as a forum to express these views. My links with Whitemoss go back to 1996 so it hurts me to see the club toiling so much on the organisation side. With the correct, and enough, people in place, it can go into 2011 and beyond stronger than ever. YOU can make that happen.
