Competition
In the winter we compete in the Scottish Athletics Indoor League, which consists of four meetings held on a Sunday at the Kelvin Hall Arena, Glasgow. This is open to under 11s to under 20s The first three are regular league meetings and the fourth is the finals where the top 5 teams in each age group compete for medals. Relays are also held on this day, open to all age groups. The club runs transport to all the meetings, leaving from and returning to the John Wright Sports Centre.
During the summer the club competes in the First Division of The Central And South Of Scotland Athletic League, which consists of three meetings held at various venues. This is open to all age groups, from under 9s to veterans. The club organises transport to and from these meetings, leaving from and returning to the John Wright Sports Centre. The club earns points at these meetings for providing officials and helpers to assist at the meetings. Anyone able to help, no matter how little, should contact a committee member. Regarding officiating, both myself and Steven Whyteside are qualified and willing to give advice to anyone interested in qualifying as an official.
Whitemoss also competes in the Scottish Athletics Mens League during the summer months. This competition is open to under 17, under 20 and senior male athletes. For female senior athletes, the club forms part of Team West which competes in the Scottish Womens League. These meetings are on the same dates as the Men's version. In 2008, for the first time, athletes from the club will be competing in the National Junior Athletics League and the Scottish Young Athletes League.
In addition, club athletes take part in open graded track competitions, district and national track championships, cross countries, road races and even the occasional hill race during the year.
