UK Athletics Anti-Doping

With the London Olympics approaching, drug testing is likely to become more prevalent at District and National competitions and maybe at lower levels than this. It will apply to all age groups, not just seniors. Athletes, parents and coaches should be aware of the possibility of being tested.  It is only a possibility (I have never been tested in 12 years) and not to get over worried about but should be borne in mind. If you take medication, check it against the banned substance list at www.didglobal.com. You can enter your country and medication and find out how safe it is. More information is also available at www.100percentme.co.uk/home.php.

Another source of information is the section of the UK Athletics site, http://www.ukathletics.net/anti-doping/. If you do use an inhaler, you must register it with UK Athletics. The form can be downloaded from the Medical Advice and Information section of UK Athletics anti-doping page.

Kid's Stuff

A little section for the club's youngsters. Do you have a favourite games site? Feel more than welcome to email me with the address and I'll add it to this page.

UKA Gamezone- I found this a bit of a laugh. Have a look and see what you think.

Thanks to Gary "Jambo" Mackay for suggesting the following three sites.

Addicting Games- something for everyone here

Fly or Die- a selection of online games, snooker, pool, cards etc

Miniclip- once more, a nice choice to be found

Athletics Clubs

East Kilbride AC- our next door neighbours

Calderglen Harriers- our friends based at Calderglen Country Park

Nithsdale AC- our friends from Dumfries

Other Athletics Links

Scottish Athletics- the ruling body for athletics in Scotland. This site contains a lot of useful information and navigation round the features should be fairly user friendly. Find here, for example, full summer and winter fixture lists. Guidance on where to find important pages will be given on this site as and when the need arises.

UK Athletics- the governing body for athletics in the United Kingdom. Once again, a lot of useful information can be found here. Whitemoss are affiliated to Scottish Athletics who are, in turn, affiliated to the UK body.

- annual race held in East Kilbride and organised by local athletics clubs in conjunction with Coca Cola Enterprises and South Lanarkshire Council. The 2007 edition on Sunday 24th June was the eighth running of the race

- running clothing and shoe supplier based in East Kilbride's village. The shop is run by two local athletes, Colin and Genevieve Freeman of Calderglen Harriers.

Time-to-Run- this site is packed with excellent advice on numerous topics, including training, diet, conquering injuries and stretching. It includes separate sections for individual countries, including Scotland. I recommend a look but you may be there all night.

Software Downloads

Since I tend to add a lot of documents in various file formats to the website, I have decided to give addresses for websites offering free software.

Adobe- this offers Adobe Acrobat Reader for free and will allow viewing of PDF files.

Foxit- an alternative PDF reader to Adobe. It does the same job.

Word Viewer- allows Word documents to be opened.

Excel Viewer- allows Excel documents to be opened.
