Upcoming events this month have rendered the track unavailable on a few dates. All club members should note that the track is closed on the following dates:-

Thursday 21st June to Sunday 24th June at 4pm- this is to allow for the East Kilbride Half Marathon which takes place on the Sunday morning

Wednesday 27th June to Friday 29th June at 5pm- this is due to some activities relating to the merging of East Kilbride's secondary schools later this year.

Athletes though should check with their coaches for any alternative training arrangements.

From the most recent women’s performance list uploaded to the website (updated to 22nd May), a number of our athletes have set new club records. 26th May 2007- Recent Race Results

Hot on the heels of the West District Championships, Whitemoss took away an excellent 13 medals from the Lanarkshire Relay Championships, held on home ground at the John Wright track on Tuesday 15th May. More details on the results page.

Secondly, we faired a lot better at the second Central and South of Scotland meeting at Grangemouth last Sunday (20th). We achieved 4th place on the day and now sit  in a healthier 5th place in the table. The full league table has now been added to the results page.

18th May 2007- West District and Closed Senior Championships Round Up

There was a healthy turnout from Whitemoss on a drizzly, overcast weekend at Glasgow's Scotstoun Stadium last week. Club members came away with their fair share of medals and personal bests.

On a Super Sunday, under 15 girl Marie Claire Martin won her 200m heat in 26.78 seconds before going on to run even faster in winning the gold medal with 26.61 seconds. These are superb times for an under 15 girl! In the same age group, Nicky McMurtrie almost completed a treble gold haul in throwing events. Nicky won the javelin and discus and was only narrowly beaten into second position in the shot putt. Completing the Whitemoss medal haul from the weekend was under 13 Elena McKinlay (pictured below) who did very well to claim a shot putt bronze. Her longest throw was over 1m clear of the fourth placed athlete.

Other club members were a little unfortunate to finish outside the medals. Finishing in the worst position of all, fourth, were Lorraine Boyd (under 17 women 80m hurdles ) and David Robertson (senior men pole vault, 20cm outside his best and only missing a silver medal on countback).

Those achieving personal best performances included Lauren Mooney (under 15 girls 1500m), Stuart Jamieson (under 17 men 400m hurdles) and a cold ridden yours truly (senior men 1500m).

Full Whitemoss results have now been posted on this website.

10th May 2007- Lanarkshire AAA Relay Championships

Judging from the conversation I overheard in the portacabin tonight, the school exam season is reaching its peak. I will take this opportunity to wish everyone the very best of luck. Rest assured, all the more senior athletes have been there before and know what it's like.

This is a reminder that, as a possible stress buster, the Lanarkshire relays are this Tuesday, 15th May at the John Wright track. The first event is scheduled for 7.15pm. So, if you read this on time, try to get to the track on Monday to see the timetable (pinned up in the cabin) and alert your coach to your availability. If it's any incentive, I'll be in attendance officiating, gathering notes for a website report and, where possible, taking photos.

Finally, very good luck to the club athletes competing in the weekend's District and Closed Seniors Championships. I will hopefully have shaken off my cold in time for my 1500m on Saturday morning.

27th April- CSSAL Division One and Track Closure

Well this Sunday sees the first Central and South of Scotland Division One meeting take place at Wishaw track. If competing, remember the team bus leaves at 9.45am sharp. If you're not there, the coach will leave. Let's have another good campaign in this division as we have done particularly in the last two years.

Secondly, please note the track is closed on Thursday 3rd May since the sports centre is being used for the Scottish Parliament election. Be sure to check with your coach for alternative training arrangements, if any.

Catch you all Sunday. C'mon the 'Moss!!

16th April 2007- Knockdhu Home Hill Running International

Congratulations to under 17 athlete Laura McCord who has been selected to compete for Scotland in the above hill running international in Larne, Northern Ireland on Saturday 28th April. This is not Laura's first international appearance since she also represented Scotland at the Marco Germanetto International in Italy in June 2006. Whitemoss can boast a number of athletes who have earned Scottish vests over its history but I think this is the first time the club has had a hill running international among its members. Well done!
