Clubmark is a Scottish Athletics accreditation programme designed to assist athletics clubs maintain a set of minimum standards in the following:-

1. Club Management

2. Duty of Care and Welfare

3. Sports Equity and Ethics

4. Coaching and Competition Programme

Clubmark has been developed in partnership with UK Athletics and the four Home Country Athletics Governing Bodies.

Clubmark aims to assist clubs in meeting a set of nationally recognised minimum operating standards and will help clubs in ensuring that they are 'fit for purpose'.

Achieving Clubmark will enable clubs to grow, and build a sustainable future, as well as becoming nationally recognised as working towards a safe and effective club environment. Clubs who achieve Clubmark will also be able to access a range of benefits to further assist their development including additional funding opportunities.

It is good to know that Whitemoss is in a position to benefit in this way.

UK Athletics Anti-Doping

With the 2012 London Olympics approaching, drug testing is likely to become more prevalent at District and National competitions and maybe at lower levels than this. It will apply to all age groups, not just seniors. Athletes, parents and coaches should be aware of the possibility of being tested.  It is only a possibility  and not to get over worried about but should be borne in mind.

A good source of information is the section of the UK Athletics site, http://www.uka.org.uk/world-class/anti-doping//. If an athlete uses an inhaler, they must register it with UK Athletics. Failure to do so and having a positive drug test at a competition can result in suspension. It is not a defence to say the medication is prescribed by your doctor. The form can be downloaded from here on the UK Athletics website. If you or your child takes an inhaler or inhalers, don't take the chance, register it.

Note shortly after updating this page, UK Athletics decided to rebrand themselves and relaunch their website. The lwebsite links in the paragraph above are different from before.

If you take medication, check it against the banned substance list at www.didglobal.com. You can enter your country and medication and find out how safe it is. More information is also available at www.100percentme.co.uk/home.php.
